Photography:-

As we all know Photography is the process or art of creating (producing) images of substance (objects) on photosensitive surfaces. In simple words we can say that the art or profession of taking & printing photographs is known as Photography. Photography (photograph) word is the combination of two ancient Greek words, photos - which means “light”, & graphos - which means “writing”. “Writing with Light” is a method of describing photography. Photography was developed in the 19th century. Nowadays photography is commonly recognized as a fine art.

Digital Photography:-

Digital Photography is the process of taking photographs (pictures) with a digital camera & storing them on digital devices for later reproduction. In simple words we can say that if our camera uses digital technology to create photographs, then it is digital photography.

Once a picture is in digital format, we can add a lot of special & unique effects to it with the help of image enhancing software. We can then print the photo out with the help of a printer but if we don’t have a printer then we can send it to a photo developing studio. We can produce digital photographs in a number of ways, such as directly with a digital camera or by scanning a conventional picture or by capturing a frame from a video.

The resolution of digital photographs is not as good as pictures produced from film. This type of photography (digital photography) is best when we need low resolution pictures. These types of pictures (low resolution pictures) are very widely used on the World Wide Web (Internet), because low resolution pictures can be downloaded easily & quickly.

The quality of a digital photograph depends on various factors such as digital camera’s lens quality (resolution, dispersion & distortion), capture format (digital file type: RAW, JPEG, TIFF, film format: 120 film, 135 film, 5x4, 10x8), capture medium (CCD, CMOS, negative film, reversal film etc) & processing (chemical or digital processing of negative and print).

Advantages of Digital Photography:-

Digital Photography & Digital Cameras both are becoming more and more popular with every day that is passing. There are a lot of advantages of Digital Photography, some of them are described as below:-

Eliminates Film Processing:-

Digital Photography allows us to view pictures immediately. For viewing any digital picture we don’t have to wait for the film to be developed. If there is any problem with a digital picture then we can immediately take another picture. Digital Pictures don’t need to be scanned before viewing them on a computer or laptop.

Image Editing:-

Another big advantage of digital photography is image editing option with which digital pictures can be edited. There are a lot of image editing software (image enhancing software) available online & in the market. With the help of these kinds of software (image editing software) we can crop images, convert the photo from colour to sepia to black & white and can add other special and unique photo effects as per our wish & requirement. Special Night mode feature allows us to capture images in the dim light & in the dark.

More Portable:-

Digital Photographs can be copied very easily & quickly from one digital device to another. In simple words we can say that digital photographs are very adaptable. We can email our digital photographs to our friends & family members, put them on World Wide Web (Internet). We can also store our digital photographs on our computer or can burn them to DVD or CD.

Massive Photo Storage:-

We can store up to 10,000 digital photographs on a digital camera (depending on the size of memory card). Digital photographs are very easy to store & use.
